Developmental Program

Our developmental program is designed to support the whole child—cognitively, socially, emotionally, physically, and linguistically. Our curriculum fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking while promoting positive relationships and essential life skills. With small group sizes, qualified educators, and onsite therapeutic services, we ensure that every child receives the support they need to grow, develop, and thrive at their own pace.

Curriculum

The following developmentally appropriate curriculums are utilized for children at the preschool:

At Growing Together Preschool, we use developmentally appropriate practices to support each child's unique learning journey. Our teaching strategies align with children's natural development, providing opportunities to build on their current skills while introducing challenges that foster growth. Each of our 13 classrooms is tailored to meet the educational and developmental needs of its students, ensuring personalized learning experiences.

Our comprehensive educational services include developmental screenings, ongoing assessments, behavioral observations, and individualized education plans (IEP/IFSPs) for children requiring additional support. Upon enrollment, all children receive screenings such as the Ages and Stages Questionnaires, height and weight checks, and hearing screenings (for eligible four-year-olds). New students are screened within 45 days, and all children are re-screened each fall.

For children with diagnosed disabilities or developmental delays, we offer further evaluations and therapeutic support. Parents are active partners in this process, participating in biannual meetings (October and May) to plan and review their child’s educational progress. Through this individualized approach, we ensure every child has the tools and support needed to learn, grow, and succeed.

Assessment is an ongoing process at Growing Together Preschool, helping us understand what each child knows and can do. We use the teaching strategies GOLD for infants through age five, a strengths-based approach that tracks progress through daily observations. Our goals align with Early Head Start/Head Start domains and Kentucky’s Early Childhood Standards to ensure a well-rounded education.

We believe parents are a child’s first teacher, making family collaboration essential. Teachers assess progress in fall and spring, followed by biannual parent-teacher conferences. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss observations, share work samples, and create a plan to support each child's learning at home and school.
